I just adored the time I spent with these two lovebirds for their Tyler Arboretum engagement session! Steph and Joe have the sweetest story! I love how their paths crossed 10 years after they met initially in the 7th grade. It’s crazy how the world works like that! Enjoy some of my favorites from their session!
How did you first meet?
We first met in 7th grade (2005) at Garnet Valley Middle School in Mr. Weir’s science class. Joe asked me to be his girlfriend one day during that class, and I actually said no to him. Then, about 10 years later, we ran into each other at his graduation dinner from Williamson Trade School and have been together ever since.
What was your first date?
We went to a bonfire/barbecue at Joe’s friend’s house, and then went to Buckley’s Tavern and sat at the corner spots at the bar where we still sit whenever we go there. After that, we went to the playground at the middle school where we first met, and sat on the swings talking for hours.
How did he propose?
On Friday December 23, 2016, I went out with my mom, grandmom, and sister, to get our nails done. When I got home, I walked into the basement of our split level home, and as I got to the stairs leading up to the kitchen, I noticed it was completely dark in the house aside from candles in mason jars on the floor in a pathway shape with rose petals in between. These mason jar candles and rose petals led all the way through the kitchen and living room, and upstairs through the hallway and into our bedroom, where I then found Joe on one knee and a sign that said “Will you marry me?”.
What are your favorite things to do together?
We love trying new restaurants (especially for breakfast) and bars, spending time with our friends and families, binge-watching shows on Netflix, and traveling. We love going out, but have a serious appreciation for nights in, ordering Chinese food and watching movies on the couch.
